Hey everyone, my name is Kirk. Welcome to my site about preparing your collector car for a climate controlled storage unit. After completing my first collector car rebuild, I was worried about weathering and pest damage, as those are common problems in my area. I did not want the snow, rain and sunlight to wreak havoc on the interior or exterior surfaces. I was also concerned about rats running through the engine bay and chewing up the wires. Placing the vehicle in storage was the best way to prevent these problems. My site will cover all of the tasks you need to complete before placing your car in a protective storage unit.

If you have a painting that you need to ship to someone, you will want to invest the same care into packaging your artwork that you put into creating it. You don't want countless hours of work to be ruined by poor packaging.
Cover with Glassine Paper
You are going to want to purchase some glassine paper to protect your artwork. Take the glassine paper and cut it down so that the paper covers the entire front surface of the artwork, and there is enough paper left to wrap around the edges of the frame. You want to wrap the paper all the way around to the back edge, where you can use artist tape to secure the paper in place.
Use Bubble Wrap
Once the glassine paper is in place, take bubble wrap and cover the canvas, front and back, with a layer of bubble wrap. Then, wrap the bubble wrap so that it covers the top and bottom of the painting. Secure in place with some painter's tape.
Add Cardboard
Then, you will want to measure the size of the canvas, including the bubble wrap. You will then want to cut out two pieces of cardboard, one for the front of the painting and one for the back. Place the cardboard in place on top of the bubble wrap to connect the two pieces of cardboard. This will make your painting a little sturdier.
Bubble Wrap Again
Now it is time for a little more bubble wrap. Wrap the bubble wrap around the painting top to bottom and tape it in place. Then wrap a layer left to right and tape it in place. This will help protect all the sides of the painting and give the painting lots of cushions.
Place the Artwork inside the Box
Now it is time to place the artwork inside the box. If the artwork fits snugly, you don't need to do anything else. If the artwork slips around, you will want to add packing peanuts or layers of bubble wrap around the painting in the box to keep the painting secure. You don't want the painting to move around.
Now you can add the appropriate labels and ship the painting. To ensure the artwork gets to its destination without any damage, you will want to use a fine art delivery service, which can help prepare and ship your artwork for you. With the right packaging and protection, your artwork will get to its destination looking perfect.
