Placing Your Collector Car In Storage

Hey everyone, my name is Kirk. Welcome to my site about preparing your collector car for a climate controlled storage unit. After completing my first collector car rebuild, I was worried about weathering and pest damage, as those are common problems in my area. I did not want the snow, rain and sunlight to wreak havoc on the interior or exterior surfaces. I was also concerned about rats running through the engine bay and chewing up the wires. Placing the vehicle in storage was the best way to prevent these problems. My site will cover all of the tasks you need to complete before placing your car in a protective storage unit.

Hiring A Moving Company To Help Your Older Parents Move

by Leonard Bowman

Moving is hard enough when you're 20 or 30. When you get into your 70s and beyond, it is an all-out endeavor! If your older parents are preparing for a move, then one of the ways you can make this situation easier on them is by helping them hire movers. Here are some tips to help the process go smoothly — for your parents, the movers, and you.

1. Help them get rid of things prior to the move.

Older adults tend to have collected a lot of things, and then when they move and downsize, they don't know what to do with these things. It's silly to have a moving company move the items as they'll end up being discarded or sold anyways. So help your parents find their items new homes before you even hire movers. Help them list things online, put other items into storage, and donate what they don't need or want to sell. The less they have left to move, the less they will pay for moving services.

2. Pay for packing services.

Sure, you could help your parents pack — but this is sure to be hard on all of you. Instead, you are better off paying the moving company to pack for your parents. This will give your parents more time to focus on other aspects of the move, and it will also ensure their items are well protected inside boxes. Some moving companies offer packing services as a part of their regular, full-service moving package, and others charge extra for packing on top of their standard transportation service.

3. Be there when the movers give estimates.

Your parents should get at least three estimates from different moving companies before selecting one, and these estimates should be give in-person. Plan on being there while the movers are on-site to give estimates. This way, you can ask questions your parents might forget to ask, and you can also record any information the movers leave that your parents might otherwise forget. You should also look over any moving contracts before your parents sign them, just to make sure your parents understand what they are signing.

When your older parents need to move, hiring a moving service will make the whole situation easier on everyone. Reassure your parents that they are making the right choice by hiring movers. When they're all settled into their new home, they will be glad they hired this help!
