Placing Your Collector Car In Storage

Hey everyone, my name is Kirk. Welcome to my site about preparing your collector car for a climate controlled storage unit. After completing my first collector car rebuild, I was worried about weathering and pest damage, as those are common problems in my area. I did not want the snow, rain and sunlight to wreak havoc on the interior or exterior surfaces. I was also concerned about rats running through the engine bay and chewing up the wires. Placing the vehicle in storage was the best way to prevent these problems. My site will cover all of the tasks you need to complete before placing your car in a protective storage unit.

Landed A Job Across The Country & Need To Move Quickly? 2 Tips For Tackling A Fast Move As Stress-Free As Possible

by Leonard Bowman

If you have been job hunting and finally landed a great job in your field that pays well, but requires you to move across the country, you are likely overwhelmed with emotions. You may be excited, yet nervous, about starting a brand-new job, and feeling similar emotions about your impending move! You need to plan your relocation strategy fast, because you want to arrive in your new city with enough time to relax and unwind for a day or two to make sure you enter your new office looking and feeling calm and collected. The last thing you want to do is walk into your new workplace still looking disheveled from the stress of moving! Follow these tips for making a smooth transition to a new home and workplace with as little stress as possible.

1. Consider Flying to Your New Apartment and Having Your Vehicle Shipped

If you have never driven across the country before, then you may be thinking of driving to your new city to save you the hassle of having your vehicle shipped. If you have made similar drives in the past and feel confident in your ability to do it again, then it is an option. However, when a new career is at stake, it is simply not the time to test your endurance on the road. A safe drive across the country can take several days, because you need limit each day of driving to under 10 hours behind the wheel. After 10 hours behind the wheel within 24 hours, the chances of you getting into a car accident increase dramatically. Safety experts also advise taking one full day off driving after three days on the road.

If you follow these safety guidelines, then driving from NYC to Los Angeles as safely as possible would take you at least five full days (including your one-day break), since it is an estimated 40 hour drive. Of course, your drive may not be as long, depending on where you currently live and where you are traveling, but once you combine your time behind the wheel, the cost of gasoline, and the always-present risk (no matter how careful you are) of getting into an auto accident, the option of shipping your car and flying to your new location may seem like the most desirable option to you after all.

When you get to your new location and are waiting on your automobile, take advantage of public transportation options (if available) or simply rent a car. Rental vehicles are also very affordable today and a great option if your new city is lacking public transit options.

2. Arrange to Have Your Belongings Packed and Moved for You by a Household Moving Company

Other tasks you may be thinking of performing yourself are finding boxes to pack your home items in, purchasing packing materials, packing your items, and moving them across the country yourself. As already mentioned, driving across the country is a hefty endeavor that is always a bit risky. If you don't drive trucks regularly, or have never driven one, then realize that spending days on the road in a vehicle you are not used to driving can be a more dangerous endeavor than driving your own vehicle. It takes time to get used to the "feel" of driving a truck, the new blind spots you have to check before switching lanes, and all of the other differences between driving a car or SUV and a moving truck. Having a professional household mover drive your home items to your new residence is a much safer plan.

Before you begin hunting down moving boxes and packing materials and packing your own items for the move, get a quote from a long-distance moving company if you are choosing to have a professional driver transport your home items to your new location. This is important to not only make sure you pin down a truck and driver who can help you make your move before someone else reserves their time, but also so you can inquire about package deals that include both the transport of your home items and the task of packing them up. While all moving companies vary, you don't want to spend a large chunk of your already limited time and energy hunting down packing materials and packing your items haphazardly only to find out when you call to book your moving truck that they would have done it for no extra charge as part of your moving deal!

If you have finally landed a great new job after submitting resume after resume, then congratulations! While a move across the country can be stressful, it doesn't have to be if you follow these tips. You can then be sure to begin your new job with a clear head and feeling ready to tackle any challenge that comes your way!
